Modern-Aire Ventilating offers a complete line of power packages. All motors are centrifugal blower motors known for whisper quiet operation. Internal Motors are available in 400, 600 and 1000 cfm increments. External Motors for roof or side wall mounting are available in 1000 or 1400 cfm increments. We also offer an In-Line Attic Motor for mounting in the attic of your home. This unit is rated at 1000 cfm.

Fire Safe Baffle Filter System
Filtering is the heart of your ventilation system. A filter system must remove all smoke, odor and contaminates to complete its job. Modern-Aire Ventilating believes like most major range manufacturers and restaurant supply houses that the most efficient filtration system is the Baffle Filter. Unlike non-filtered range hoods, a Baffle Filter catches up to 96% of all grease and grease particles before they ever enter the interior of the range hood, making clean up a breeze. Unlike mesh filters, the air passing through a Baffle Filter is not restricted, thus allowing a smoother and quieter transition. Perhaps the most important aspect of the Baffle Filter is that the baffles in the filter are positioned to eliminate direct passage of flame through the filter thus making it one of the safest and most efficient filtration systems available today.

Polished Stainless Steel Baffle Filter System (Baffle Filters are Dishwasher Safe)
Modern-Aire takes the Baffle Filter one step further. We certainly can’t improve on it’s safety and efficiency, but we certainly can improve on it’s looks. Baffle filters are very dull looking and that distracts from the looks of your range hood. Our baffle filters are manufactured of solid stainless steel and then polished to a high luster.. So when you look into a ModernAire, the beauty of a highly polished stainless steel baffle filter system enhances it’s beauty.

Lighting System
Bright beautiful Halogen Lighting for full cook top illumination is standard in every Modern-Aire. Halogen lighting remains the lighting of choice where high light quality or precise light focusing is required.

Switching
All Modern-Aire ventilation except units incorporating the external 1400 cfm motor, are controlled by a solid state variable speed motor control. This switch gives you infinite control over your ventilation needs. From a simmer to WOK cooking, you set the motor to your precise ventilation needs. All lighting needs are controlled by a solid state dimmer switch. You control the amount of lighting you need, from full Bright total illumination to a safety night light. This combination of switching gives you total control of your ventilation and lighting needs.

Lead Time
We pride ourselves on our excellent lead time. Our four (4) weeks lead time is the best in the entire industry.

Choosing the CFM Needed for your Application
How much power do you need for your ventilating application? Ventilation power is rated in CFMs (cubic feet per minute). CFM is calculated on the BTU’s of the range or cook top your system will be ventilating. Your appliance salesperson can give you the BTU’s of the particular range or cook top you are purchasing. A good rule of thumb for the correct CFM of your range hood is as follows: 1 CFM for each 100 BTU’S. Thus, if you arc ventilating a 95,000 BTU residential commercial range, you need approximately 950 CFM. It is always a better idea to round up, not down. Remember this is just a rule of thumb. Always discuss your needs with your appliance salesperson, they are experts in this area.

Venting Options
Standard venting is centered left to right, 1” in from the rear of the canopy Venting options include left vent, right vent and rear vented units. Rear vented units must be a minimum of 14” in height. Other venting configurations are available. If your particular need is not listed, please contact us for more information.

Duct Run Length and 90 degree Turns
For proper operation of your ventilating range hood, the size of your duct, the duct run length and 90 degree turns are extremely important. The following information must be followed for proper performance. Internal Motors: No more than I - 90 degree turn. No more than 20’ of duct run. Remote or External Motors: No more than 3 - 90 degree turns. No more than 40’ of duct run. The proper size duct must he installed as recommended by the manufacturer. Remember, reducing the duct size in any part of the run limits the performance of the duct to the reduced size. For example, you are running a 10” round - 10’ duct run and in the middle of the run you must reduce the duct to 7” round for 1’ of the run. Even though 900 o of the run is 10” duct, your entire duct run would now be considered a 7” round duct run. Remember, reducing the duct size in any part of the run limits the performance of the duct to the reduced size.

Electrical and Ducting Information
All motors are listed and certified by Underwriters Laboratories. Equivalent duct sizes using square inches provided is acceptable.

Mounting Information
For optimum and guaranteed performance, the bottom of the canopy should be no lower than 30” and no higher than 32” above the cooking surface. The width of the canopy is determined by the width of the range it is ventilating. A 36” range should have a 36” range hood, a 48” range should have a 48” range hood. If ventilating a residential commercial range, when possible, the range hood should be 6” wider than the range it is ventilating. Island units are a bit less forgiving than wall mounted units. All island installations should be 30-32” above the cooking surface and 6” wider all around than the range being ventilated. By abiding with these recommendations, you will receive optimum performance from your system.
